I went to Coffee Bean for lunch yesterday and while I was paying for my food I took this from the ‘please take one’ box:

Kuching can piss off go ahead and have their annual Rainforest World Music Festival this July.
That is because Miri is the host for the International Jazz Festival in May which is being held annually at the Pavilion, Park Everly Hotel.


The first Jazz Festival was also held in Miri at the same venue in 2006 (last year) and proud to hold it again for the second time this year.

The 2 days (11th & 12th May) event will feature Jazz and brass bands from all over the world. Performing this year are:

- The Dirty Dozen Brass Band from New Orleans, USA
- The David Gomez Sextet from Malaysia featuring Junji Delfino from Philippines
- George WashingMachine Quartet from Australia, UK and France
- Habana Sax from Cuba (not ‘cuba’ as in ‘trying’, okay?)
- KCP4 from India and Germany
- Lluis Coloma from Spain
- Orak Naa Naa from Morocco and Germany

And lastly, Son2Nos from UK, Venezuela and Philippines who will be playing under the stars (on the open space) on both nights.

At the Pavilion, as you are groovin’ to the sexy sounds of Jazz, you will be able to appreciate breathtaking view of the South China Sea and the Miri Marina Park at the same time.

It is going to be a spectacular event as the Miri Internaltional Jazz festival 2007 is in conjunction with both Visit Malaysia 2007 and Miri May Fest.
If you think it's not big enough, the event is organized by the Sarawak Tourism Board in collaboration with a selected group of individuals from private and public institutions.

If you’re in town, drop by and if you’re from afar, fly over. Bring a friend or two because if you appreciate funky jazz music and enjoy live instrumental band performance then Miri is the place to be in May.
I will be attending the show and I suggest that you guys should go too.

The prices of tickets are; RM50 for a one-night pass. You can get a better bargain by getting a two days pass as they will only cost you RM90. WOW!
Tots below the age of twelve will be charged RM25 and RM45 respectively.

This is definitely an event not to be missed.
